What is Phonely?

Phonely is an AI voice agent platform that handles inbound, outbound, SMS, and chat with multilingual support (100+ languages, 1,000+ voices). It targets businesses from SMB to Fortune 500 with a free tier of 500 minutes. Reviewers cite the multilingual coverage and free-tier evaluation as differentiators and call out maturity gaps versus deeper customer-service incumbents.

Phonely is a newer entrant in the AI voice agent category, targeting a broad market — from small businesses to Fortune 500 call centers. The platform combines inbound and outbound voice with SMS, chat, and API channels. Multilingual support (100+ languages, 1,000+ voice options) is the headline feature; integrations include HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, and Slack.

Reviewer signal is mixed. Where Phonely lands cleanly — basic inbound call handling, appointment booking, multilingual fallback — teams are happy. Where the product is younger than the contact-center-tier incumbents (PolyAI, Decagon, Sierra), reviewers report gaps in compliance documentation, depth of integrations, and conversation handling for complex multi-turn flows. The free tier makes evaluation easy before committing.

Configuration confusing, support slow on a critical issue

Verified

We hit a production incident where the agent started transferring all calls to voicemail instead of routing them. Support response on the ticket was four business days for a system that was supposed to be answering 80 percent of our inbound. Configuration UX makes it easy to break something without realizing. We're evaluating alternatives.

Shopify integration ships, voice quality varies by voice

Verified

Order status, returns, shipping questions — Phonely handles them and writes back to Shopify cleanly. The voice selection took us a while because the quality varies pretty noticeably between voices. Once we landed on the right one its been solid. Reasonable price for our scale.

Ramped quickly once we figured the templates out

Verified

Initial setup was confusing — templates vs custom workflows vs prompts. Once we landed on the right pattern for our service department use case the deployment was fast. Service appointment booking and parts inquiries handle well. The dashboard could use better filtering but the underlying work is solid.

Free tier let us actually evaluate before committing

Verified

Every other vendor I called wanted me on a demo before I could try anything. Phonelys free tier let me wire it up to a test number, run real practice calls with my team, and decide. We're paid customers now. Setup was straightforward and the integration with our scheduling tool was clean.

Hit ceiling on multi-step troubleshooting

Verified

Phonely handles basic account questions well. Where it loses to the contact-center-tier platforms is on multi-step troubleshooting — when a customer needs us to verify their identity, look up a specific transaction, then walk through a dispute, the agent loses context. Not a fit for our higher complexity flows. We use it for tier 1 and route the rest.

Spanish-language coverage was the unlock

Verified

About 40 percent of our customer base prefers Spanish. Phonelys multilingual agent switches seamlessly mid call when a customer codes back to English mid sentence. We've finally got phone coverage that doesnt require us to staff bilingual front desk at every shop. Booking rate improved at our Latino-heavy locations.

Frequently asked questions

Buyer questions about Phonely, answered against our reviewer set.

What is Phonely best for?

Phonely is best for small and mid-market businesses that need an AI receptionist for inbound calls, basic outbound, and multilingual coverage. The free tier and the breadth of language support are the standout differentiators in our reviewer set.

How is Phonely priced?

There's a free tier of 500 minutes per month — unusual in the category and useful for evaluation. Enterprise plans are available via sales. Reviewers at SMB scale describe the pricing as accessible; larger teams report the platform is younger than the contact-center incumbents.

How does Phonely compare to Synthflow or PolyAI?

Synthflow targets agencies with a $2K/mo white-label tier; PolyAI targets enterprise contact centers with multi-month deployments. Phonely sits in between — broader market positioning than Synthflow, lighter deployment than PolyAI. Reviewers note maturity gaps versus the enterprise incumbents on complex multi-turn flows.

Does Phonely handle HIPAA workloads?

Phonely lists a HIPAA-certified deployment (Lifelike Health) as a customer. Reviewers in regulated verticals report mixed depth on compliance documentation — teams with hard HIPAA / SOC 2 procurement requirements should confirm specifics in a sales conversation before committing.
